Figure 5–1 highlights the Integration Layer in the OpenEdge RA.

The Integration Layer sits just above the Business Servicing Layer in the reference architecture. The Integration Layer shares this position with the Presentation Layer, but there is an important difference. While the Presentation Layer deals with user interfaces and user interaction, the Integration Layer has no UI involvement at all. Rather, the Integration Layer provides an interface to programs, applications, and processes that are not visible to the user.
